Ingredients

1 tbsp canola oil

1 package (350 g) fully cooked sliced steak (Lesters)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp grated ginger

1/2 tbsp Chinese five-spice powder

Pepper, to taste

1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari

1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

1/4 cup chopped green onions

4 large tortillas

2 Lebanese cucumbers, diced

1/3 cup fresh cilantro leaves

1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts (optional)

 

Sauce

2 tbsp fish sauce

2 tbsp rice vinegar

4 tsp sesame oil

4 tsp sugar

2 tsp sambal oelek

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the sliced steak, garlic, ginger, and five-spice powder. Cook for 2 minutes. Season with pepper.
  3. Add soy sauce and sweet chili sauce. Bring to a boil, then cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring to thoroughly coat the steak with the sauce. Stir in the green onions and remove from heat.
  4. Using a spoon, divide the steak mixture into the center of each tortilla. Top with cucumbers, cilantro, and peanuts, if desired. Fold in the ends of the tortillas and roll tightly.
  5. In another large skillet heated over medium heat, place the rolls seam-side down. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  6. Turn the rolls over and continue cooking for another 1 to 2 minutes, until lightly golden.
  7. Serve the rolls hot with the sauce.
